Blog: Coffee

I thought it would be a good idea to give up coffee. It’s not that it was affecting surgery at all, it just seemed like it’d be a good idea to wean myself off of a drink that gives me a terrific headache if I don’t ingest it by 8:00 a.m. There aren’t too many addictions in life that are just considered “normal.” The only other one I can think of is chocolate, but even that is mainly just from old “Cathy” comic strips.

After a several week long experiment with giving up coffee, I can say unequivocally that it is probably the worst idea in the world. It is basically like I just decided, “You know what, I’m going to commit to being in a terrible mood for three weeks. I’d like to just hate everything.” So at the request of all the people close to me, I started drinking coffee again.

Overall, It was the right choice. There are few enough simple pleasures in life. Why needlessly remove one? Getting into the office, sitting down to go over emails, and enjoying the peace of the morning with a cup of coffee is a fine way to start the day. It inspired me to write this blog. So what have I learned from writing this? Coffee is delicious and wonderful, but does not stand up well as a subject for a blog.
